“Make It Happen” Team Drafts RN Pipeline Plans

Responding to a regional crisis supply of registered nurses, a group of innovative healthcare and education leaders convened in March to draft plans for a pilot nursing pipeline program.

Convened by Dr. Anitra Williams, Director of Nursing Operations at St. Joseph’s Medical Center, the group has drafted a concrete plan to help high school students enrolled at Stockton Unified School District’s Health Careers Academy make the transition to nursing.

Nursing Leaders and Partners Tackle Pipeline Challenges

With over 1,000 projected openings per year in San Joaquin County alone, nursing pathway occupations pose the greatest challenges for the area’s healthcare employers.

To address these challenges, the Healthcare Pathways Team – a working group of nursing leaders, educators, and workforce development practitioners – is meeting to develop strategies to expand the talent pipeline and increase employment opportunities for community residents.
